For FCCB Katrina Work Team Blog

It's Thursday evening, and just a couple of more days, before we leave bright and very early Sunday morning for New Orleans.  A lot of anticipation, excitement, and thinking and thinking about making sure I have all the stuff I need to take.  As we were talking about in our meeting last Sunday at lunch, nothing is more important to bring than a positive outlook.  I'm glad we have our Blog again this year.  Last year from back at home I read the Blog every day.  Knowing that we have the support of so many folks back home is great.  Soon we will be seeing in person, and face to face, what we have been excited and anxious about.  I am looking forward to what Team members who went last year see in comparison a year later.  I know we will be a part of helping bring the people of New Orleans back.  Our work is good.  Soon we will find out how hard.    Randy Summers

Reflections on preparing for the trip

As one who went last year about this time, I am looking forward to returning. Their was a lot of work that still needed to be done there, and I am looking forward to seeing what has been done, as well as contributing another drop of work in the vast ocean of what needs to be done.

I have been doing a lot of reflecting on last years trip as a part of preparing for this trip. I have also been immersed in last year's trip from editing and completing video that was taken last March.

One of the toughest things in preparing, is trying to figure out what is most necessary, and trying to not take too much. As I will be taking a computer (to help keep the blog going) and a few cameras (still and video).

With all of this I need to fit in a sleeping bag, work cloths, and a variety of necessities. Its not going to be easy.

I am getting quite anxious for Sunday to come and for us to be on our way.

2007 Katrina Work Team Set to Depart

A group of 17 UC Berkeley students and FCCB members are going to the New Orleans area soon to spend a week helping with post-Katrina repair.
