First Day
Today was our first day at working. My group and two other group are working with this one group called Just the Right Attitude or JTRA and they are pretty much a grassroots organization that feeds the locals. In addition to that they put together can foods in other stuff in paper bags or boxes and distribute it to the locals as well. All they have to do is show their ID and sign in to receive the stuff. I also was able to talk to my peers. They all are pretty down to earth and it seems like everyone have a positive attitude. The other groups went to other sites. I believe two groups are working in a school playground, 4 groups are working with POC, and I am not certain where the other groups are working at. I will say the people who are in charge of JTRA are very nice individuals. One of them gave us some Chunck Monkey milk shakes and those were so good. Anyways, that is what happened our first day of working.

Hey Ebelio -
So great to hear from you and learn a bit about the organization you are working with. I checked out their website and asked Phil to post a link to it on the blog. Have you led your first reflection session? I am so excited for all the time you will spend with your peers...must be a fabulous group. I would love to hear more about where you are all staying..do you know what parish you are in or any other geographic placements. I think you mentioned the possiblity of being at Xavier, right? Keep posting, and good luck in uploading photos...not sure how I can help out there. If you want to send something to me or Phil, we can upload things from our end. Take care, have fun and love the people!
FYI - I almost have the other student summer blog set up and we will link this one with it.
Ebelio. I work at UCB and helped some students create the website for Magnolia Project. I am so glad you all made it there safely and am so amazed at the student led movement that has become this trip. Keep up your great work!
